Want to know the secret to maintaining a fabulous figure at forty?  Diet, exercise, and clean eating! Like most, I love to snack away during the day. However, it is important to keep intake in moderation and choose alternative foods that will help keep you full and satisfied.

Eggs: Protein in egg yolks can stimulate the release of a hormone called glucagon. This hormone can help burn fat, in particular belly fat.
On The Go: hard boiled eggs can be prepared ahead of time, stored in the fridge, and then eaten as a healthy snack whenever cravings hit.

Cabbage: High in antioxidants, including vitamin C. It’s also high in fiber to keep you staying full for longer periods of time. Cabbage also contains calcium, potassium, magnesium, vitamin A, and vitamin K.
Snack Tip: Fried cabbage is delicious. Make sure to fry it in healthy, low fat oils and cooking sprays

Yogurt: Probiotics found in yogurt help limit the amount of fat your body absorbs. The amino acids in yogurt help burn fat while the calcium tells your fat cells to get rid of cortisol, which is a hormone that may cause belly fat to increase.

Add to your list: buy yogurt that say "live active cultures " on the container. 

Apples: Filled with fiber and crunch these tasty things found in apples contribute to weight loss. 
Did you know: Granny Smith Apples increase the bacteria in the intestinal tract that help people stay clean.  

Black Beans: Full of protein and fiber, black beans keep your digestive system healthy and working efficiently. The flavonoids in black beans help reduce stomach fat. 
Better Choice:  a black bean burger is the perfect alternative to red meat. During summer BBQ's I like to add toasted sunflower seeds for an added crunch! 

Grapefruit: Composedof 90% water, grapefruit is great for lowering insulin, which increases fat storage in our bodies. 
Morning munch: Start your day out off with one-half grapefruit and jump start your metabolism with only 52 calories! 

Quinoa: Low-calorie and filled with nutrients including protein, magnesium, zinc, and iron. This gluten free grain pairs perfectly with with vegetables, salad, and even fruits! #TeamPippen approved!

LettuceGo for the green!  Lettuce contains the highest level of nutrients  and comes in varieties; and flavors adjustable to any palette. Larsa loves romaine which provides Vitamin B, Manganese, and folic acid. 

Dark Chocolate: The secret to dark chocolate is to not overindulge. All good things must come in moderation—a few bites helps slow the digestive and will keep you feeling full for a longer period of time.
